A project is a temporary collection of activities and resources directed towards achievement of objectives within predetermined time, budget, quality and scope specifications. Projects are the predominant means employed by private and public sector organizations to introduce major changes aimed at achieving organizational objectives. However, despite the prominence of projects as means to achieve organizational ends, there is a gap in translating project plans into actual investment and operation. No matter how sophisticated or detailed the project planning and analysis work is, it has no value unless it is transformed into action or implemented. Studies and prior project implementation experiences have shown that there is continuing difficulties in many developing countries in transforming project studies and plans into investment endeavors. This is mainly due to the lack of adequate knowledge and skill on project management. This training, thus, is concerned with introducing trainees with the conceptual framework of project implementation planning, management, monitoring and evaluation. It particularly addresses the management of project integration, time/schedule, cost/budget, quality, scope, human resource, stakeholders, communication, procurement and risk.
After completion of this training, trainees will be able to identify and practice contemporary tools and techniques for
- Planning the implementation of a project,
- Managing project activities and resources,
- Measuring, controlling, monitoring and evaluating project progress and performance,
- Completing a project within predetermined time, budget, quality and scope specifications
