Organizations from private and public sector need to ensure that they develop and implement projects that are within the realm of their vision, mission and strategic goals rather than being driven by donors and availability of disposable funds. Thus, projects should be carefully analyzed and planned before implementation to ensure that they fall within the vision, missions and strategic goals of the organizations and they can be effectively and efficiently accomplished within predetermined time, budget, scope and quality specifications. Project planning and analysis is concerned with the identification of project ideas through to providing feasibility report in support of investment decision making. It specifically covers description of and mechanisms to identifying project ideas; screening the ideas considering various criteria including their compatibility with the vision, mission, strategies and goals of an organization; undertaking and determining commercial, technical, organization and management, environmental, financial and socio-economic feasibility of the most viable project idea; and finally developing feasibility study report and business plan.
After completion of this training, trainees will be able to
- identify project/business ideas,
- screen the ideas considering various criteria,
- undertake and determine commercial, technical, organizational, environmental, financial and socio-socio-economic feasibility of a project idea,
- develop feasibility study report, and
- write-up business plan.
